The Maintenance and Repair Company for Wagons Caransebeș SA - SIRV Caransebeș is located in Caransebeș, at 1 Timișoara Street, Caras-Severin County. The company was established in 1950, belonging to the Romanian Railways, and has been involved in repairing rolling stock, particularly freight wagons.
After the reorganization of CFR in 1998, SIRV Caransebeș became part of the National Railway Passenger Transport Company "CFR CĂLĂTORI" SA, being fully state-owned.
In 2003, SIRV Caransebeș was privatized, assuming its current name and becoming fully privately owned. While in 1980 the company expanded its activities to include the repair of passenger wagons, starting from 2011, SIRV Caransebeș exclusively repairs freight wagons and provides railway services, holding in this regard:
