The ultrasonic inspection of the mounted axles is a non-destructive testing aimed at detecting defects in the joints of the mounted axle components as well as in the axle body itself. The ultrasonic inspection is performed at SIRV Caransebes using a portable, fully digital Krautkrämer flaw detector, equipped with a microprocessor, welding facilities, high-resolution display, electronic DAC/TCG or/and AVG (DGS) scales, and the largest and most advanced color display in its class, with the capability of continuous (video) recording of the inspection sequence. The personnel operating this device are authorized by AFER.
